Traditional & Historical Use

The ingredients in Lichen Lore are rooted in centuries of natural medicine and folk wisdom:

• Usnea was revered by Indigenous tribes across North America for treating wounds, coughs, and infections. Traditional Chinese Medicine employed it for respiratory and urinary tract support, while European herbalists prized it as an antifungal and antibacterial lichen.
• Elderberries have long been used in both Native American and European traditions to support immune resilience, reduce fever, and ease cold and flu symptoms.
• Olive Leaf has been used since ancient Mediterranean times for its antiviral and antimicrobial properties, and is still trusted in modern herbalism for combating pathogens and supporting cardiovascular health.
• Oregano, a staple in both folk and culinary medicine, is a natural antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory herb traditionally used to support the lungs, digestion, and immune system—especially during colds and infections.

Together, these herbs were used in teas, salves, syrups, and tinctures to help the body defend, detoxify, and restore.

Ingredients & Extraction Method

• Usnea
• Elderberry
• Olive Leaf
• Oregano
• 190-proof organic cane alcohol
• Distilled water

Our tincture is made using the traditional double-extraction method:

1. A 6-week alcohol infusion to extract essential resins, acids (like usnic acid), and volatile oils.

2. A low, slow water decoction of the spent herbs to draw out immune-supporting polysaccharides.

3. The two extracts are recombined to form a 1:3 herb-to-menstruum ratio, with a 50–55% alcohol content.

Instructions for Use

This product is intended for adult use only.

• Shake well before use
• Start with 5-10 drops in a small amount of water, tea, or juice
• May be taken up to 3x per day
• May be taken directly under the tongue, though the flavor is earthy and bold
• Each body is different—start small, increase as needeD

• Store in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. Do not use if the seal is broken.
• Keep out of reach of children. 

You may increase dosage gradually to 1 full dropper (approximately 20-30 drops) per serving, up to 3 times per day, or as advised by your healthcare provider or herbalist. Each person is unique, take the minimum amount needed for your specific body.
